“The Heartless Ranch Is Haunted” was in the works before we moved again but in moving to a new home I began to see the project through that lens. At that point the working title shifted to “How Emmy Found Her Way Home.”

I think most of us in rural America have gone through an abandoned house at least once and it is an emotional wild ride, a reminder of the nature of humanity and our own mortality. Well there was an old house, that was new to me, there where we moved to. I took a series of photographs one solitary afternoon and I rehashed those things for years. You can see those below.
